whats the skelly giving away to teh new backdrop?
Last night's show was the fifth night I attended at the Wiltern and brought my total to about 35 shows. Still can?t get enough of the best band in the world. However, on to the reason for my post...
I was shocked on Friday night that they didn?t play Don?t Take Me for Granted. I'm not one of those people that bitch and complain about they didn?t play this song, they didn?t play that song, why does he still play this or that, blah, blah, blah. I was just shocked because this was the first time that I can remember it not being part of the set list since Dennis passed away.
WARNING: no need to start a flame war...I didn?t say it is ABSOLUTLY the first time he hasn?t played it...so, please don?t start posting how he didn?t play it at this show, that show or whatever...I just said I didn?t remember it - and as stated above, that covers a lot of shows in SoCal since that song debuted in Irvine back in May 2000.
Does anybody know if there was a good reason why he didn?t play it? After all, it?s who the album was dedicated to and he made the song such a featured part of the show every other night (with the skeli banner giving way for the new backdrop).
Just curious.
whats the skelly giving away to teh new backdrop?
SD usually has a big backdrop (banner) hanging behind them when they're playing. It was the MLM album cover during the last big HOB run. More recently it has been the skeli logo.
At the Wiltern shows, during the first part of DTMFG the skeli banner would "fall" and behind it was the new banner - of the Sex, Love, R+R cd cover. Of course, the symbolism here is the song about Dennis playing while unveiling the casket cover.
That banner stayed up for the rest of the show.
Dedicated Ring Of Fire to a friend that is no longer on this earth. HOB Orlando FL 1-11-04.
JC or DD - don't know. I always thought it was for Dennis personally.

Hmmm... nah.
Thanks though, I don't really care for live recordings unless it's something rare, or if at some point in the show I got to sing.
Does the boot have any of the first band that night? I can't think of what they were called but they are some local Orlando chump band that has "Rockabilly" in the title of most of their songs- the funniest was "Rockabilly Credit Card"- WTF?
The band that opened up in Orlando was The Rhythmatics. So cheesy. The guitar player is in The Rumblers car club (which also has Roger Miret of Agnostic Front). I thought the band was super lame- just bad, tired, cliche ridden music- and I LIKE rockabilly! I heard that they got the gig, in part, because of The Rumblers and Miret but I don't know how true that could be. It was probably because it was such a last minute booking and HOB needed a rockabilly band but who knows. The guitar player is a friend of a friend and he gave me a cd. Just what you'd expect- run of the mill songs killing time until the guitar solo. Of course, the cover is a (really bad)picture of his '32 coupe. Check them out at (you'll love this) www.hotrod-daddy.com
I'd like to get a copy of that boot if you don't mind, Moral Threat.
That's so funny.... Rumblers Orlando are so lame. There are some rumblers that would kick my ass, but they don't live in FL.
I just checked their roster... what happened to the old asian man? He was the only one I liked.
Rumblers Car Club
Dont know nuthin about why they didnt play the song.
But in reading the thread, I dont know about Rumblers where all you are, but all the Rumblers up here are really sweet, cool guys. (of course they'd kill me for saying that cause of the macho image) And the Rumblers I've met from AZ and L.A. have all been cool guys too.
That band does sound pretty fucking cheesy though
